The Farm’s Before Shots: Part 1

We are mostly done with unpacking (phew!) so I figured I’d share with you part one of our “before” house tour. I’ll cover some of the rooms on the first floor in this post. The quality of the photos are just from an iPhone 8 because I couldn’t find my good camera after moving.

Welcome to the house through our front entry!

We’d love to add floor to ceiling wainscoting to this space.

Dining Room Before

This was taken even before the unpacking was done but currently I have the table set for Thanksgiving (I think I figured out what I’m doing so I’ll photograph it and get it on the blog soon!).

Living Room Before

I’d love to cover the brick fireplace with wainscoting that will be identical to the entry and add a gas insert. Ideally I’d also love to see the floor level with the dining room and office; I’ve watched my grandparents struggle with stairs and I’d love to have a house that feels easy to get around for all people.

Sunroom Before

This room was definitely a selling point of the home for me… I love the idea of being in the warm weather but being shaded. This is a room we didn’t have at either of our last houses so it feels like a luxury! It doesn’t need much but I’d love to add some white linen curtains.

Kitchen Before

The kitchen is very 1970s but the cabinets are in such good condition and most of the appliances are great. I’d love to do a phase one makeover here. I’ve already started on it but I’m not sure I can convince AJ to let us paint the cabinets, he’d rather just redo the kitchen in a year than go through the hassle of painting them; I’d rather do a really good $1200ish makeover and keep the kitchen for a few years and focus on other projects. I think I’ve convinced AJ to get IKEA’s marble laminate counters and backsplash and I have some ideas for lightening the cabinets without paint as well.
